Wiring and Mounting ADC-T2000
Installing your ADC-T2000 Smart Thermostat is easy if you know what to look for. With the help of this article and alarm.com’s guide, you can add to your home system easily. Follow this tutorial if you have your ADC-T2000 system and are ready to gain access to your home’s temperature and much more. If you are not up for the task, call us to schedule a service call.
Before you begin, be sure your T200 smart thermostat is compatible with you HVAC system. What you will need:
- Needle nose pliers
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Drill
Step 1: Turn Power Off HVAC
Locate your circuit breaker and turn the power off to your HVAC system. Then, remove the thermostat cover to expose the wiring. Compare your current system to the one depicted below. If the terminals are not the same, they may not be compatible.

Verify your system is 24VAC.
If your system is 120 or 240 volts or has wire nuts, the system is high voltage and is not compatible.
If either of these situations occur, contact us and we can help.
Step 2: Removing Old System
Take a picture of your old HVAC’s wiring, you will refer to this later. Remove the wires from the old thermostat, you may need to loosen the screws in order to easily pull out the wire from their terminals. Unscrew the four mount screws to remove the old HVAC mount leaving the exposed wire.
Step 3: Mounting ADC T2000 Smart Thermostat
Using a level and a drill, mount your new ADC T2000 mount to the wall, pulling the wire through the middle of the mount. Insert the wires into the correct terminals according the photo you took in step 2. If there are different terminals labeled, contact us.
- If there is an “R” wire, connect it to the “RH” terminal.
- If both “RH” and “RC” wires are present, remove the black jumper on the lower left corner of the back plate terminal board with pliers.
Step 4: Installing ADC TC2000 Smart Thermostat
Start by inserting the batteries included with your system into the ADC TC2000. Next, align your new thermostat to the new mount and firmly press the system into palce. Turn on your HVAC system by flipping the switch on your circuit breaker. You are now ready to add your system to your alarm.com app.
